Arnold Wagner OBE retired from his main role as a Director of Human Resources in October 2009.  His most recent HR roles were as Director of Human Resources, Smiths Group plc (2003 – 2009) and as Director of Personnel, Bunzl plc (1994 – 2003) (both FTSE 100 companies).  In addition to his HR experience and an initial background in academia, Arnold has served as a Non-Executive Director at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (2006 – 2010), where he chaired the Remuneration Committee and at Renew Holdings plc (formerly Montpellier Group plc) (2003 – 2006), where he chaired the Remuneration and Nomination Committees.

Arnold has a strong interest in pensions, including defined benefit pension schemes, and since stepping down from his full-time role in 2009, has been assisting one charity with its defined benefit pension scheme and another charity with its education curriculum.  Previous voluntary work includes serving as a chair of governors at a primary school and at a large comprehensive school.  He was awarded an OBE for his services to education.
